18 Days safari to Mikumi, Udzwungwa, Ruaha, Iringa, Morogoro, Selous and Kilwa

Day 1: Arrival Dar es Salaam

Meet and greet on arrival at Dar es Salaam airport, then get transfer to your selected accommodation. Meals: B, L, D.

Day 2: Dar es Salaam /Mikumi national park

Full day of game drives around Mikumi. There is a rich variety bird species as well as large numbers of giraffes, buffaloes and elephants and close to the water holes also lions, leopards and hippos. Furthermore you can see zebras, lions, wild dogs, pythons, hartebeest, wildebeest, elephants, impala, warthog, eland and other antelopes. Several observation towers enable you to overview the park in its entirety. Mikumi National Park is mostly miombo woodland with gently rolling hills. Overnight at your selected accommodation. Day 3: Mikumi national park

Day 4: Mikumi National Park/Udzungwa

After breakfast departure for Udzungwa Mountain National Park. Afternoon arrival at the park, half day of hiking and bird-watching in the pristine rain forest: hiking towards the Sanje waterfalls for spectacular views of the wide Kilombero Valley. Overnight at your selected accommodation. Meals: B, L, D.

Day 5: Udzungwa / Ruaha National Park

After breakfast, depart for Ruaha National Park (long drive of some 7.8 hours via Mikumi and Iringa). In the afternoon we reach the lodge constructed on and around a rocky kopje overlooking the Great Ruaha River. The Lodge provides comfortable accommodation and good food while blending into its surroundings to enable visitors to feel themselves a part of the wild. Both the dining “Banda” and the bar, in elevated position above the river combine comfort and coolness together with the most spectacular views. Overnight at your selected accommodation. Days 6-7: Ruaha National Park

Two full day game drives at Ruaha National Park with picnic lunch.

Ruaha, with an area of 10,300sq.km. Is the second largest park and second largest elephant sanctuary in Tanzania? The great Ruaha River that flows along its entire eastern border, creating spectacular gorges and scenery, features a large number of hippos and crocodiles. The wide variety of animals include Greater and Lesser Kudu, roan and sable antelope. Bird life is rich, with over 370 species recorded. Overnight at your selected accommodation. Meals: B, L, D.

Day 8: Ruaha/Iringa Kisolanza old farm

After breakfast you will drive to Iringa Kisolanza old farm for lunch, later on the day you will visit Kisolanza old farm, take in the fresh air and stretch your legs as you amble around the farm beautiful scenic walks that take you through natural bush and to beautiful dams. Kisolanza Farm is renowned for its diverse bird life. The farm is a birdwatchers paradise. Overnight at your selected accommodation. Meals: B, L, D.

Day 9: Iringa / Morogoro

After breakfast you will drive to Morogoro Town in with picnic lunch box. Dinner and overnight at your selected accommodation. Meals: B, L, D.

Day 10: Morogoro / Selous Game Reserve

Depart after breakfast with packed lunch boxes for Selous Game Reserve. The drive will make you pass through farms along Uluguru Mountains and villages. On arrival in Selous you will start with afternoon game drives with overnight at your selected accommodation. Meals: B, L, D.

Day 11-12: Selous Game Reserve

Start with morning game drives and after your morning game drives you drive back for your fresh lunch at Hippo Campsite. After lunch you will relax along the banks of River Rufiji before going for afternoon boat safari in Rufiji River with overnight at your selected accommodation. Meals: B, L, D.

Day 13-14: Selous game reserve / North West boundary of Selous Game Reserve

After breakfast you will drive to North West of the reserve for two full day dame drive, Dinner and overnight at your selected accommodation. Meals: B, L, D.

Day 15: Selous/Kilwa Masoko

Today after breakfast you will drive to Kilwa with Picnic lunch box, evening leisure at beach. Dinner and overnight at your selected accommodation. Meals: B, L, D.

Day 16: Kilwa

Morning breakfast and have free day at the seaside enjoy your day for swimming. Overnight at your selected accommodation. Meals: B, L, D.

Day 17: Full Day Tour Kilwa

After breakfast visit the ruins and the village where you will freely interact with local people and then proceed to the hippo pool for watching hippos and birds. Canoe down the Indian Ocean to experience a nice view for the Kilwa Island decorated by Mangroves, Coconut, palm trees and the ruins that will take your memories back to explorer’s time. Learn local ways of timing and locating fish, actual fishing and try to catch a fish that will be prepared for your lunch or dinner. Finish your day by enjoy coffee with local people under the Fig tree during the evening hours while listening to stories and get a real touch of authentic Swahili culture. Day 18: Kilwa/Dar es Salaam/Departure

Morning breakfast at your lodge then drive to Dar-es-salaam international airport to catch your international flight back home.
